Disclosure up front, since the rest of this only makes sense with it: AK Registered Agent.org publishes this page and sells the $99 alternative described in it. Rocket Lawyer's pricing below is their published figure. This isn't a takedown, and by the end you may decide their platform is worth the difference.

Rocket Lawyer's Pricing Doesn't Play Games

Give them this: $125 a year for registered agent service, identical at every membership tier, with no first-year teaser we could find. There's no introductory rate that doubles on you in month thirteen, which is more than a couple of well-known competitors can claim. If you've been burned by a renewal jump before, Rocket Lawyer's structure isn't the thing that burned you.

You Might Be Paying for a Platform You Don't Need

The real question with Rocket Lawyer isn't whether $125 is fair. It's what you're buying.

Rocket Lawyer is a legal services platform. Document templates, e-signature, attorney Q&A, contract review, and yes, registered agent service as one item on the shelf. If you're going to use the document library every month or you want a lawyer on tap for quick questions, the agent service riding along inside that subscription makes sense and the bundled cost is reasonable.

If what you actually need is an Alaska address that accepts service of process and gets it to you fast, then you're funding a platform to obtain a mailbox and a scanner. Plenty of Alaska LLC owners fall into that second group: one entity, no ongoing contract work, no need for attorney access, just a statutory requirement to satisfy under AS 10.50.055.

The yearly gap is $26. We're not going to inflate that into a scandal. Twenty-six dollars is a lunch. The decision here is about scope, not savings: pay for the toolkit if you'll open it, and don't if you won't.

Everything we sell is one job in one state:

  • $99 a year, flat, with a renewal identical to the first invoice
  • Court papers scanned the day they land and emailed straight to you
  • A compliant Alaska registered office, staffed on weekdays like the statute requires
  • Your address kept off the public record; ours goes there instead
  • Reminders ahead of the biennial report so the January 2 deadline doesn't ambush you

On price we'll be precise rather than boastful. BetterLegal advertises $90, so ours is not the lowest published rate in Alaska. Ours ranks with the least expensive flat rates offered here, and it includes same-day scanning rather than a promise to forward things eventually.

Switching Off Rocket Lawyer in Alaska

Alaska routes this through an office most national providers get wrong in their help articles. There is no Alaska Secretary of State. Agent changes are recorded by the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing, which lives inside the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. The instrument is Form 08-409, a Statement of Change of Registered Agent, and the fee is $25. One form covers LLCs, corporations, nonprofits, and foreign-qualified entities alike.

Appoint your replacement first. Form 08-409 won't accept a blank for the incoming agent, so you need the new Alaska physical and mailing addresses before you can even complete it, and filing in that sequence means the state's record hands off cleanly with no uncovered day in between.

Then cancel on Rocket Lawyer's side. If your agent service sits inside a membership you're keeping for other reasons, make sure the agent line item specifically comes off, not just the parts you noticed.
